Online Listing Locations

In order to build a thriving and successful practice, you have to be found. One of the most highly used tools of the public in finding a healthcare provider today, aside from word of mouth, is the internet. So, put yourself where people are looking! This is a list of free places to list yourself online and was given out during the Tricks of the Trade: Successful Marketing Strategies presentation at the AANP 2008 annual conference in Arizona. What is an Affiliate Program?

First off, an affiliate program is not MLM!! Many of you have written in to say that you disapprove of MLM through a doctor, and, we could not agree more. An affiliate program is when you refer people to a company and receive a referral fee for doing so, usually after they have purchased a product. In our business of being doctors, patients will ask you advice on numerous things such as what to clean with, what water filters are the best, what kind of skin and hair products to use, etc...And, being the partner in health that you are you will naturally want to direct them to those companies and products that offer outstanding products. An affiliate program is simply how a company can thank you for sending them business.

If you affiliate with a few good companies and use tasteful and well written text on your web site, patients will truly see this as a resource provided by you. There are some good guidelines to follow: keep your affiliations to a minimum, no more than 10, choose companies that you are proud to refer people to, disclose to your patients that you are an affiliate of the company and be sure to refer to get the most out of the affiliate programs.

Folks, this is truly an outstanding source of passive income. Whether you are a student or a doc in practice, we encourage you to become affiliates and start earning money for your referrals. To review the current and upcoming list: Passive Income Opportunities

A true affiliate program should never charge you for being an affiliate, should not compensate you for signing up other affiliates and should not require that you purchase supplies or materials. If they do any of the above, it is more than likely a MLM program.

Upcoming Presentations and Services

For your own education and marketing efforts we have some easy to follow tutorials coming on various aspects of marketing: building your web page, doing pod casting, etc...

• Building Your Web site for FREE: There are a wealth of online utilities that can help you build your own web site for free with no special knowledge required. If you can sign up for a account online, you can plan, build and manage your own web site. This presentation consists of two parts:
  • Part One: The Fundamentals of Design. Internet users only read 28% of the words on an average web site, and will visit a site for 10 minutes or less when doing their initial research. Learning the fundamentals of web design can help you design a site that will capture and keep your users attention. The presentation provides guidelines on layout, menu structure, color schemes, font and link styles, and photos.
  • Part Two: Building Your Own Web site. Using screen captures and video demonstrations, this presentation will walk you through building your own web site from start to finish using online utilities like Google Sites. If you can sign up for an online account, you can create and manage our own site.
• QuickBooks: for those who are opting to use QuickBooks as your practice management software, a series on using QB, complete with files that will save you hours of time is in the works!!!

The "Patient Handouts" package will be done by the end of the year!

Last but not least is a newsletter subscription which will allow you to simply mail a pre-done newsletter out to your patient base every month. This is being worked on and should be available by the first of January. Each subscription will include 12 months of newsletters, completely finished and customizable with your own clinic/practice name and contact information.
