General Updates

The mission of this company is to help NDs succeed - plain and simple. Whether you are starting a practice, restructuring an existing practice or going to work for someone else, there is something here for you. There is no intention to usurp any existing organization currently helping NDs, but rather, a desire to supplement in areas that need a little extra attention. Many free resources are available at Business Naturally while, for others, there is a nominal charge. These fees go to help maintain the website and to compensate those who have spent many hours researching opportunities, writing presentations and who continue to do so.

Many of you have asked about practicing in Florida...At the last SCNM Tricks of the Trade seminar (April 2008), practicing in Florida was presented as being a breeze...no big deal...but there needs to be corrections made to that idea! Florida, as you know, has an old law on the books that does not allow new NDs to get a license. That means, as of right now, you cannot practice in Florida as an ND. That does not mean you cannot have a strong and vibrant business here, you just have to conduct yourself in a completely different way than was previously portrayed. For those interested in Florida, give me a call and I will fill you in.

NEW - ND Classifieds

The classified section of Business Naturally is up and running! This section has been designed to help the ND community with a variety of things:

  • centralizes US and international employment opportunities for Naturopathic Doctors
  • provides a central listing of all residencies and internships
  • allows NDs to post their resumes in a central place for prospective employers to browse
  • moves excess product off the shelf before it expires by offering it to other NDs at a discount
  • sell or search for and purchase equipment and supplies instead of buying new

The section for posting a resume has been designed for use by Naturopathic Doctors, while the sections for posting employment and residency opportunities will be widely marketed to a variety of different potential employers and preceptors. The "For Sale" section also remains fairly open, but is also designed to primarily help NDs. There is no charge associated with the Classifieds but this section will be actively moderated and inappropriate material will be removed. The listings will come given a bit of time for word to spread...check it out and please, pass the word along so we can make this a strong and vibrant resource for our community. Promoting For FREE!

Really, promoting for free? YES, and what is even better, you can even earn a small revenue. Cafe Press is the place to go. How does it work? Basically, you create your own promotional items without any upfront cost, people go the site and buy what they like. This is a great way to start spreading the word about your practice beginning with friends and family who can then pass it on to the people they know. Passive Income

New opportunities are coming along every day in the passive income department. One area that has been expanded in the last couple of months is the affiliate programs. Included are opportunities like: Food Allergy Mixer, Meal Mixer, Vital Choice seafood and the details for Dakota Free are being finalized. All companies that make it onto the Business Naturally affiliate listings have been throroughly researched and provide an outstanding product for your patients, ones that you can be confident about recommending . Upcoming Presentations

There are 4 major projects in the works. First, as this has been requested by numerous folks, is a package on Homeopathy written by Eric Udell, ND and Danite Haller, ND. This should be finished by late fall and will allow you to help educate your community about homeopathy and get patients in your doors.

Second, 50 Ways to Market Yourself Online will be finished within a couple of weeks. Marketing is so important to the success of your practice but some people have very limited time to go do out-of-house talks while others may find public speaking is not their strong area. You still need to market and this presentation will show you how to do a majority of your marketing online in your free time.

Third, for those of you considering the use of QuickBooks for your practice but who have never used the program before, the presentation, Using QuickBooks in Your Practice will be out by the end of the year. This presentation will come complete with customizeable templates, lists of commonly used products, vendors and CPT codes that can be imported in to save you an incredible amount of time and research. It will take you step-by-step through the set up and use of this wonderful program as it pertains to a Naturopathic Medical Practice for single or multiple practitioners.

Fourth, the Patient Handouts Package will also be complete by the end of the year. Topics will be varied but this package will include handouts for your patients that are comprehensive, well-illustrated when needed, cited with references when appropriate and will be completely customizeable.
